Vise grips are versatile tensile testing grips designed to securely hold flat, round, and irregularly shaped specimens in universal testing machines. Featuring a dual-acting screw clamping mechanism, these grips allow independent jaw adjustment for secure specimen positioning. The articulating jaws automatically align with the specimen surface and provide a self-tightening effect under tensile load, helping reduce slippage and improve testing reliability.

Available in manual screw-action and pneumatic configurations, M240 vise grips accommodate a wide range of specimen materials, thicknesses, and geometries. Their adjustable jaw openings and interchangeable gripping surfaces make them suitable for material testing, quality control, product development, and research applications.

Principle of Operation

The dual-acting clamping mechanism moves opposing jaws toward the specimen, providing controlled gripping force and accommodating different specimen shapes and thicknesses.

The articulating jaws adjust to the specimen surface, helping distribute clamping pressure and maintain proper alignment during tensile testing. As tensile force increases, the grip geometry provides a self-tightening effect, enhancing grip security and reducing specimen slippage.

Manual Vise Grips: The operator adjusts the clamping force using a screw-action mechanism, allowing controlled tightening based on specimen dimensions and material properties.

Pneumatic Vise Grips: Compressed air operates the clamping mechanism, providing repeatable gripping pressure and faster specimen loading. Pneumatic operation is particularly beneficial for high-volume testing and applications requiring consistent clamping conditions.

Applications

Dominion vise grips are suitable for tensile strength, elongation, and material characterization testing across various industries.

M240 manual vise grips are versatile grip solutions for tensile testing of plastics, metals, rubber, composites, and other engineering materials. Their dual-acting screw mechanism accommodates symmetrical and asymmetrical specimens, while articulating jaws provide a self-tightening effect under tensile load to minimize specimen slippage. Available with various jaw surfaces and openings up to 52 mm, Dominion vise grips are suitable for a wide range of material tensile testing applications using universal testing machines.

Note: Suitability for each material depends on the jaw surface, specimen geometry, and required clamping force.

[159

post-4117","product","type-product","status-publish","product_cat-vise-grips","first","instock","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-variable
